Pomelo Cafe is an adventurous Asian eatery located in Edinburgh, UK. They reached the studio to design a series of brand pieces, including t-shirts, caps, menus, business cards, and the artwork for a bottle sold exclusively at their venue.
For this project, I developed an illustrated visual world with a playful spirit that reflects the essence of the brand. It all started with the development of a main character that embodies the spirit of Pomelo Cafe, which later became the brand’s icon. From there, I designed a cast of secondary characters that complete this fictional world—one deeply connected to the restaurant’s identity.
One of the highlights of the project was illustrating the actual storefront of the restaurant, brought to life by these characters interacting with the space. Since Pomelo Cafe’s menu changes with the seasons, we also illustrated the storefront across all four of them: a snowy winter with customers enjoying hot ramen, a rainy and blooming spring, a crisp autumn with falling leaves, and a vibrant summer with people dining outdoors.
